Xreal is making waves in the AR space by combining the versatility of Android devices with the immersive experience of its AR glasses called Xreal Beam Pro. Following its initial launch in China last month, the new Xreal Beam Pro is now available globally.
Xreal Beam Pro: Key Features and Specifications
The Xreal Beam Pro resembles a standard smartphone but is specifically designed for AR applications. Running on Android 14 with custom AR enhancements, it offers a user-friendly experience for both novices and tech enthusiasts.
- Performance and Storage: Powered by an unnamed Snapdragon chipset, the device comes with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB, expandable via microSD.
- Connectivity: The base model includes Wi-Fi 6, and an optional 5G model is available for streaming on the go. Although it can’t handle voice calls, it supports high-speed internet connectivity without needing a phone.
- Dual USB-C Ports: One port connects to the AR glasses and the other supports 27W fast charging.
Advantages of a Dedicated AR Device
While regular smartphones can be used with Xreal Air glasses, they often lack the necessary features such as video out support and a compatible version of Android. The Beam Pro ensures seamless functionality with its dual USB-C ports and built-in accelerometer, which allows it to function as an air mouse.
Enhanced AR Experience
- 50MP Cameras: Equipped with dual 50MP cameras, the Beam Pro can capture spatial photos and videos (1080p at 60fps). These are best viewed with AR glasses but can also be seen in 2D on the device’s screen.
- Display: The device features a 6.5” LCD panel (1080 x 2400 pixels), which doubles as a touch panel for app control when using the glasses.
Access to Millions of Apps
The Xreal Beam Pro runs Android 14 and has access to the Google Play Store, offering compatibility with millions of apps and games. Its custom UI, NebulaOS, supports multitasking, allowing two apps to share a large virtual screen.
- Streaming Services: Enjoy Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and more on a virtual screen up to 130” with Xreal Air 2 Pro glasses.
- Gaming: The Beam Pro supports Steam Link, Xbox Cloud Gaming, Amazon Luna, and Nvidia’s CloudXR for an enhanced gaming experience.
Pricing and Availability
The Xreal Beam Pro is affordably priced at $200 for the base 6/128GB Wi-Fi model. An 8/256GB version and a 5G model are also available. Businesses can opt for the Beam Pro Enterprise Edition.
Global pre-orders are now open for the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Czechia, China, and Japan. Korea will start pre-orders on July 1. The first units will ship in August, and the Beam Pro will be available on Amazon starting in July. Owners of the original Xreal Beam can get a $50 discount on the Pro until July 10.
Conclusion
The Xreal Beam Pro offers a robust and affordable solution for AR enthusiasts, combining the power of Android with innovative AR features. Whether for work, entertainment, or gaming, the Beam Pro provides a versatile and immersive experience.
