In 2017, WhatsApp launched the Status feature, enabling users to share text, emojis, photos, and more with their contacts for 24 hours. Users could control who sees their status updates by selecting visibility options: all contacts, only select contacts or everyone except select contacts.
Last month, WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.10.10.75 added a convenient popup for changing the Status Update Privacy setting before posting. Now, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (2.24.12.27) is rolling out with the same feature.
This update serves as a reminder of the current privacy setting, ensuring users don’t forget to adjust it. If necessary, changes can be made without delving into the settings menu. This enhancement aims to make users more aware of their audience for status updates.
Beta testers on the Android channel may start seeing this feature, with a wider rollout planned over the next few days.
