The new OnePlus 12R smartphone was just released in the US, but it’s having some issues connecting to Verizon’s network. Bummer!
The regular OnePlus 12 works fine on Verizon, so why is its cheaper 12R sibling having so much trouble? Good question!
This is the first time an R series OnePlus phone has launched in the US. It seems like OnePlus maybe didn’t get all their ducks in a row ahead of the launch. One OnePlus 12R buyer over on XDA forums said that out of several 12R phones he bought, every single one got an “Invalid IMEI” error on Verizon. Yikes!
He said OnePlus customer support has been giving him the runaround for over a week, always telling him to wait another day or two to see if it gets fixed. Not very helpful!
OnePlus did admit there’s an issue in a statement to Android Authority:
“The OnePlus 12R is able to work with all major carriers and on all major 5G networks in the US, including Verizon. We are currently investigating unexpected cases that users may be having with Verizon’s network, and are working with the carrier to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
So they know there’s a problem but don’t really know how long it’ll take to fix. Bummer again! It’s probably just something simple they need to do on Verizon’s end to support the 12R model. But even if it’s an easy fix, doesn’t mean it’ll happen quickly.

Bottom line – if you want to get a OnePlus 12R and use it on Verizon, might be best to hold off for now until they get this sorted out. I’d keep an eye on it and wait for confirmation it’s working properly before buying.
