Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Launch Date and Event
Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy Z Fold6 on July 10, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip6, the new Galaxy Watch7 series, and the novel Galaxy Ring. This follows the trend of Samsung’s previous foldable releases, with the Galaxy Z Fold4 arriving in late August and the Z Fold5 in early August.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Design and Build
The Galaxy Z Fold6 is anticipated to be a subtle upgrade from its predecessor, maintaining a similar design but with possible adjustments to the screen aspect ratios, making it thinner and lighter. The device is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset globally and potentially an increased battery capacity.
Camera Setup
The camera setup is likely to remain the same as the Galaxy Z Fold5, featuring:
- 50 MP 1/1.56″ ISOCELL GN3 wide-angle camera
- 10 MP 1/3.94″ 3x zoom camera
- 12 MP 1/3.06″ ultrawide camera
- 10 MP 1/3″ punch hole selfie camera
- 16 MP 1/3″ under-display selfie camera
No Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra Yet
For the first time, Samsung will split the Galaxy Z Fold series. While there were speculations about a Fold Ultra arriving alongside the Galaxy S25 in early 2025, it’s now clear that the higher-end Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra will not be released this year. This Ultra model is expected to feature a thinner and lighter design with an improved camera setup, possibly including the 200MP ISOCELL HP2 camera from the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Specifications and Features
- Weight: The Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra is rumored to weigh 239g, lighter than the Fold5’s 253g.
- Material: The Ultra may use Titanium, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
- Thickness: When unfolded, it will be 5.6mm thick, and 12.1mm when folded, down from the current Fold5’s 6.1mm and 13.4mm.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Design Tweaks and Display
Samsung is expected to make more substantial design changes this year. The Galaxy Z Fold6 will feature a thinner frame and a wider cover display. Early renders suggest a flatter, square design with dimensions of 153.5 x 132.5 x 6.1 mm. However, there are reports indicating a 5.6mm unfolded thickness, which may vary between models (Z Fold6 vs. Z Fold6 Ultra).
Display
- Cover Display: A 6.3″ 22:9 unit, compared to the Fold5’s 6.2″ 23.1:9 display.
- Inner Display: Expected to retain the 7.6″ diagonal.
No Cheaper Galaxy Z Fold6
Despite rumors, there will not be a cheaper Galaxy Z Fold6 FE this year.
Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold6 at the July 10 event, promising significant upgrades and a refined design. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the launch date.
