Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 have recently undergone FCC certification testing, giving us an early look at what these new foldable smartphones will offer. Both models were tested for compliance with various wireless standards, including 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and wireless power regulations. Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold6 also includes Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology.

No Wi-Fi 7 Support

One significant detail from the FCC tests is that neither the Galaxy Z Fold6 nor the Galaxy Z Flip6 was tested for Wi-Fi 7 connectivity. Instead, both devices support Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), including the 6GHz band. While the 2023 models’ omission of Wi-Fi 7 was understandable, its absence in the 2024 models is a bit surprising.

Detailed Testing Insights

Interestingly, the FCC lab conducted tests on the Galaxy Z Fold6 in three configurations: closed, half-opened, and fully opened. This was necessary to evaluate the performance and positioning of the MIMO antennas, which vary based on the device’s orientation.

Battery and Charging Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is equipped with two batteries: a main cell with a 2,790mAh rated capacity and a secondary cell with a 1,097mAh capacity, totalling a rated capacity of 3,887mAh. This is an increase from the Galaxy Z Flip5’s 3,591mAh rated capacity (3,700mAh typical capacity).
