Ahead of the official debut at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10 in Paris, the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro TWS earphones have already made their way into the hands of a few early buyers. Reddit users Plastic_Development1, LiNx0NeXtUs, and single_mind shared their first impressions of these highly anticipated earphones. Here’s what they had to say.
Galaxy Buds3 Pro Early Impressions
Sound Quality and Performance
Plastic_Development1 reported that the sound quality of the Galaxy Buds3 Pro is superb, with a slight emphasis on the bass. They preferred the Buds3 Pro over their first-gen Apple AirPods Pro, citing better Ambient Mode and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). However, the voice recorded through the Buds3 Pro’s mic sounded muffled, similar to the AirPods Pro.
LiNx0NeXtUs mentioned that the music quality isn’t drastically different from the Buds2 Pro, but noted that the Ambient Mode and ANC are significantly improved. They also found the Buds3 Pro to be just as comfortable as the Buds2 Pro, if not more so.
single_mind praised the sound quality of the Buds3 Pro, stating that they offer better treble, bass, and volume than the Pixel Buds Pro. However, they found the 360° sound feature lacking and noted some lag in head tracking.
Design and Build
Plastic_Development1 described the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro and their charging case as feeling premium, though they suspected the hinge might be plastic instead of metal. Despite this, they found it sturdy compared to the Galaxy Buds2 Pro.
LiNx0NeXtUs felt that the stems of the Buds3 Pro don’t offer a significant upgrade over the Buds2 Pro’s design, but appreciated the improved comfort and functionality.
single_mind remarked that the Buds3 Pro and their case are lightweight and made of plastic, which made them feel somewhat cheap. Nevertheless, they noted that both the buds and the case felt sturdy with no flex, and the charging case had a solid magnet ensuring the buds fit snugly.
Features and Controls
Plastic_Development1 shared that the Buds3 Pro supports AAC and SBC audio codecs and touch controls, including slide gestures for volume adjustment and squeeze gestures to pause or skip music. A screenshot revealed that the lights on the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro’s stems can be controlled with a pinch-and-hold gesture, which works when both buds are out of the case.
LiNx0NeXtUs highlighted that the slide gesture can only be used to control the volume, while the pinch/press gesture has multiple functions. By default, a long press toggles between ANC and Ambient Mode.
single_mind found the Ambient Mode to be adjustable through the app, offering a good, albeit not very natural, experience. They also mentioned that the touch controls provide a little haptic feedback and that Voice Detection works well. In terms of battery performance, they noted that a one-hour conversation with ANC enabled consumed about 33% of the battery, and the buds charged to 97% in about 12 minutes when placed in the case.
Conclusion
The early impressions of the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro are largely positive, with users praising the sound quality, comfort, and advanced features like ANC and Ambient Mode. While some concerns were raised about the build quality and 360° sound performance, the overall consensus is that the Buds3 Pro are a solid upgrade over previous models.
Stay tuned for the official launch on July 10 for more detailed reviews and official specifications.
