Samsung recently introduced new Galaxy AI features with the launch of its Galaxy S24 smartphone series last month. Now, the company has announced that some of these features are coming to more of its earbud models.

Specifically, Samsung is releasing an over-the-air (OTA) update in India that brings the Live Translation and Interpretation features from the Galaxy S24 to the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Galaxy Buds2, and Galaxy Buds FE earbuds.

Importantly, Samsung noted that these AI features work directly on the Galaxy Buds themselves and do not require an active internet connection to function.

The Live Translation feature allows users to see real-time translations of calls on the screen of their Galaxy S24 phone when talking via the Galaxy Buds. The Interpretation feature provides “a seamless two-way, face-to-face interpretation through Galaxy Buds interface,” according to Samsung.

In a press statement, Samsung explained:

“Users can directly speak into the Buds mic and their translated voice will now be available via the Galaxy S24 series enabling near-natural conversation between two individuals each holding Galaxy S24 series smartphone and Galaxy Buds respectively, eliminating the need to hand over the phone and manage translated talking.”

This on-device translation functionality through the Galaxy Buds aims to enable more seamless cross-language conversations.

The rollout of these Galaxy AI features to the Buds2 Pro, Buds2, and Buds FE is starting now in India via an OTA update. Other markets are expected to receive the update soon.
