Realme recently revealed its 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ phones in India, offering attractive pre-order deals before sales open widely on February 6. But with various options now flooding the competitive mid-range space, what’s compelling buyers to take the plunge on the new Realmes?
Improving the Formula
In many ways, the Realme 12 Pro series refines last year’s models by fixing conspicuous weaknesses without hiking prices much. The standard 12 Pro gains a more flexible triple 50MP main + 32MP telephoto + 8MP ultrawide camera array, while the 12 Pro+ adds a welcome 64MP periscope zoom over its predecessor. Both also feature modern mid-range chips like the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 respectively rather than the aging Dimensity alternatives.
So for shoppers prioritizing well-rounded photography or smooth performance for the price, Realme’s upgrades hit the mark.
Navigating the Alternatives
Of course, tempting alternatives from Redmi, Vivo, and others muddle any straightforward choice. The Note 13 Pro+ and even base Note 13 Pro tout unique high-resolution 200MP and 50MP main cameras respectively starting under ₹30k. Vivo’s selfie-focused V series packs its own imaging punch too with 50MP front cameras.
OnePlus still reigns supreme on flagship processing power per rupee with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered 12R. And fellow Oppo sub-brand Poco manages solid Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 internals with basic costs cut elsewhere on the Poco F5.
With such scattered strengths across rivals, personal preferences around cameras, displays, or charging could reasonably tilt decisions in any direction.
Closing Pre-Orders Soon
But for anyone still debating, Realme’s pre-order period with bundled discounts up to ₹2000 off ends February 5. So time is running out to score savings and lock-in orders before open sales start on February 6.
Getting hands-on may be the best way to see if Realme’s retooled 12 series meets your needs. And with the pre-order window closing fast, now is the time for still-undecided buyers to decide.
