Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, known for its grand unveilings of cutting-edge mobile processors, will once again take center stage in October this year. Building on the success of last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, the chipmaker is set to introduce the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
The news comes straight from Qualcomm’s Chief Marketing Officer, Don McGuire, who revealed in a video shared during the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will boast the powerful Oryon CPU. This innovative chipset promises to redefine mobile computing with its advanced architecture and enhanced performance capabilities.
But before the grand debut of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, Qualcomm is gearing up to introduce another member of the Snapdragon 8 Gen series. Codenamed SM8635, this upcoming chip is anticipated to feature a formidable Cortex-X4 core clocked at 2.9GHz, complemented by the potent Adreno 735 GPU for handling graphically intensive tasks.
Manufactured using TSMC’s cutting-edge 4nm node technology, the SM8635 is poised to deliver impressive performance, boasting an estimated AnTuTu score of around 1.7 million. Positioned strategically between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Gen 3, this chip is speculated to be marketed as either the Snapdragon 8s Gen 2 or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Lite, catering to consumers seeking a perfect balance of power and affordability.
