iQOO’s next Z-series phones may feature a key display upgrade, if the latest leaks around the iQOO Z9 prove accurate.
According to posts from revered Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, the impending iQOO Z9 looks set to adopt an OLED panel for the first time in the Z lineup’s history.
The shift from LCD would bring the display tech in line with 2021’s one-off iQOO Z7 series. It marks a welcome change too from the LCD screens utilized on last year’s Z8 and Z8x models.

Bumping Up Resolution
Along with the OLED swap, the tipster points to a resolution bump as well. The iQOO Z9’s panel seemingly jumps to a 1220p resolution, landing between Full HD and QHD 1440p clarity.
Dubbed “1.5K” by Chinese OEMs, 1220p splits the difference pixel-wise. When combined with OLED’s contrast and punch, it should make for quite the viewing experience on the Z9.
Of course, other key specs remain unknown for now. But with the Z series typically updating every six months or so, we likely don’t have long to wait. The leaker pegs a launch before the end of Q1, possibly late February.
If pricing falls in line with predecessors, the iQOO Z9 could end up with a tempting balance of display prowess and affordability. We’ll know soon just how well the expected OLED panel and mid-range power mesh together.
