Honor has recently launched its 200 series globally, positioning the Honor 200 between the budget-friendly 200 Lite and the premium 200 Pro. We had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the Honor 200, and it impresses me with its balance of features and affordability.

Honor 200 Design and Display

The Honor 200 closely resembles its Pro sibling, both in look and feel. The main distinction is the single punch-hole cutout on the display, which houses the 50MP main camera, unlike the dual setup on the 200 Pro.

Key Design Features:

  • Display Size: 6.7 inches
  • Resolution: FHD+
  • Refresh Rate: 120Hz OLED
  • PWM Dimming: 3,840Hz for reduced eye fatigue
  • Thickness: 7.7mm (slightly thinner than the Pro)
  • Weight: 12 grams lighter than the Pro
  • Color: Moonlight White with a satin-like finish that sparkles in direct light

However, unlike the Pro model, the Honor 200 does not come with an official IP rating, which means it lacks certified dust and water resistance.

Performance and Hardware

The Honor 200 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, providing solid performance for everyday tasks, though it falls short of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 found in the Pro model.

Specifications:

  • Chipset: Snapdragon 7 Gen 3
  • RAM/Storage: 8GB RAM and 256GB storage
  • Operating System: MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14
  • Battery: 5,200 mAh with 100W wired charging

Camera System

One of the highlights of the Honor 200 is its camera setup, which matches that of the Pro model.

Camera Specs:

  • Main Camera: 50MP
  • Telephoto Lens: 50MP 2x zoom with Harcourt Portrait mode
  • Ultrawide Lens: 12MP
  • Selfie Camera: 50MP (lacking the 2MP depth sensor found in the Pro)

Pricing and Availability

The Honor 200 is competitively priced, making it an attractive option for those looking for premium features without the premium price tag.

Pricing:

  • Starting Price: €600/£500 for the 8/256GB variant

Availability:

  • Open Sale: Starts June 26
  • Where to Buy: Honor’s official websites and partnering retailers

Conclusion

The Honor 200 strikes a commendable balance between performance, design, and affordability. Its robust camera system, high-refresh-rate display, and fast charging capabilities make it a compelling choice in the mid-range smartphone market. While it lacks some of the premium features of the Pro model, like the higher-end chipset and official IP rating, it offers excellent value for its price point. If you’re in the market for a versatile and capable smartphone, the Honor 200 is worth considering.
