Google is rapidly expanding the availability of its new Gemini chatbot app to more regions across Latin America, Africa, Asia Pacific, Canada, and beyond. Gemini product lead Jack Krawczyk confirmed the accelerated rollout, with prioritization ongoing to launch in Europe ASAP.
Eager users in newly supported areas can grab the Gemini app on Android now. And it actually works fine in Europe currently by sideloading and setting the language to US English. Do note it replaces your Google Assistant once enabled though.
Interestingly, Gemini does lose some basic Assistant functions like managing alarms, reminders, app launches, and smart home controls. But Google stresses the chatbot remains an early work in progress with plenty of upgrades in store.

This widening international access proves Google’s ambitions to evolve Gemini into a cornerstone service and eventual Assistant successor. But with key features still missing or spotty, it has a way to go before matching that utility and polish.
Still exciting to see Gemini spread its wings globally in these early stages while Google irons out bugs. European arrival can’t come soon enough! Wherever you are, share your early Gemini impressions if you’ve already gone hands-on.
