While they are likely to stay in the background during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, overshadowed by the new foldables and the Galaxy Ring, the new Galaxy Buds deserve some attention. The Buds2 Pro are from mid-2022 and the regular Buds2 are even older, having originally launched in 2021.

Significant Upgrades for Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro

The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro are bringing important upgrades, some of which have already leaked. For starters, the vanilla model will receive an IP57 dust and water resistance rating, up from its predecessor’s IP52 rating.

Galaxy Buds3 Features

The Buds3 will still use single speakers per bud. They will support high-quality audio (24-bit, 96kHz) and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). With ANC enabled, they should offer the same battery life as the 2021 buds, i.e., 5 hours.

Enhanced Specifications for Galaxy Buds3 Pro

The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro will be the premium offering with 2-way speakers. They will have better battery life than the vanilla model and the old Buds2 Pro, lasting up to 6 hours.

Samsung has also improved the charging case for both models – the total listening time is up to 24 hours for the vanilla model and up to 30 hours for the Pro (up from 20 hours and 23 hours, respectively, for the Buds2 series). This appears to be due to increased efficiency, as the Buds3 Pro case will have the same battery capacity as the Buds2 Pro case.

Unique Features: Blade Lights, Ambient Sound, and Adaptive Noise Control

One of the most intriguing features of the Galaxy Buds3 Pro is the inclusion of “Blade Lights”. The exact function of these lights is still unknown, but they could be a new form of RGB lighting or serve a different purpose altogether. The regular Buds3 will not have this feature.

The Pro buds will also feature Adaptive Noise Control and Ambient Sound, which will automatically balance how much or how little you hear from your surroundings. The vanilla model will have neither of these features. Both versions will support Bluetooth 5.3 with Auto Switch and SmartThings Find.
