Don’t expect a quick follow-up to the Vision Pro. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s next VR headset is over 18 months away from launch.

This staggered release cadence differs greatly from Apple’s annual iPhone upgrade cycle. It indicates the company is taking a more measured approach with its Vision headset lineup.

The Vision Pro 2 is rumored for an August 2025 launch at the earliest. But a September release could sync up with new iPhones.

Apple is closely studying Vision Pro returns and feedback to improve the sequel. This user data is being relayed from Apple Stores to inform development.

While some rumors pointed to a 2027 Vision Pro 2 unveiling, that seems too long given it’s a first-gen product. A cheaper non-Pro headset in 2024 seems more plausible.

In summary, Apple appears to be playing the long game with its VR hardware. There won’t be rapid annual refreshes like iPhones. The Vision Pro 2 is still deep into development, with user input guiding future design decisions.
