Apple’s new augmented reality headset, the Vision Pro, has been limited to the US so far. But it’s only a matter of time before it expands to other countries, and China may be one of the first.
According to a new report from Chinese media, citing unnamed supply chain sources, the Vision Pro could launch in China as early as April, or at the latest in May. Now take this with a grain of salt, but Apple CEO Tim Cook did say the headset would come to China “soon” at its unveiling in New York. So April or May sounds reasonable.
Here’s where things get tricky though – the Vision Pro name itself might not fly in China. Huawei applied for that trademark years ago and has exclusive rights to it until 2031. So Apple may rebrand as just “Reality” in China to avoid issues.

The sources also claim that Vision Pro’s certification process for China sales is nearly done. Once that finishes up, which will be public info, we’ll know the launch is getting close.
On the specs side, the Vision Pro’s estimated production costs are around $1,700, about half its $3,500 retail price. Definitely pricey parts in this advanced AR/VR headset!
Now the bad news – supply will likely be very tight for the initial launch batch in China. Fingers crossed availability improves quickly in subsequent batches.
Chinese tech fans have been eagerly awaiting the Vision Pro’s arrival. An April/May launch would be a nice win for Apple. But we’ll have to wait for official launch details directly from Apple to know for sure when pre-orders will start in China!
