Apple Intelligence Features to Remain in Beta Post iOS 18 Launch

Apple is set to unveil iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 at its Worldwide Developers Conference today, introducing “Apple Intelligence,” a suite of AI features. According to a leak from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, these AI features will remain in beta even after the official launch of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 this fall.

The first betas for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 are expected to be released as soon as tomorrow. However, Apple Intelligence will still be labelled as a beta during the full release, indicating that the features might not be fully polished. This aligns with the broader trend in the AI field, where many features are still effectively in a beta phase despite being marketed aggressively.

Gurman also warns that the initial beta releases of the new operating systems could be particularly buggy. Insiders are reportedly surprised at the state of these builds, suggesting that the early experience might be rough for users eager to try out the latest updates. Nevertheless, Apple aims to address these issues in the coming weeks to ensure a smoother experience by the time iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 officially launch in the fall.
